As we enter the month of June and a different phase of lockdown procedures I take this opportunity to encourage you to continue observing the guidance on social distancing as laid out by the authorities.

I would offer my thanks, congratulations and appreciation to our members and lodges for the continued good work and outreach shown in our communities throughout Scotland.

The generosity, compassion and kindness of our Orange members knows no end. I am immensely proud to lead such wonderful organisation.

I was speaking to the Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf from the Scottish Government regarding the disgraceful arson attack on Springburn Orange Halls which he totally condemns. Mr Yousaf asked me to pass on his sincere thanks and best wishes to our membership for all of the charitable giving and assistance shown to people of all faiths and none.

The community action and support being delivered by our volunteers comes as no surprise to anyone who is a member of the Orange Institution, we have always been a charitable organisation and always will be. Senior politicians from the Scottish Parliament are taking note of our good works. It reinforces the importance and relevance of having strong Orange Lodges across our country, please keep up the good work, it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

As we approach the 12th of July, sadly without our usual colourful and exciting parades we are looking at alternative ways of marking King William’s victory at the Boyne. Continue visiting the Grand Lodge website and Facebook page for a new, different and hopefully enjoyable way of celebrating the 12th.

This really is a fantastic organisation to be a member of and I pray that we will all be able to meet together in the not too distant future. With an exciting future ahead we would welcome any returning members and extend an invitation to anyone looking to join an orange lodge, to be part of our outreach and share in our Protestant Christian values. The time is right, the time is now

Come and assist the Orange Lilly to grow and prosper.
