The Most Worthy Grand Master provides the following update for lodges and members following the advice sought from the Scottish Government.

The lodge meetings that you are referring to are presumably events where those attending will know and be interacting with each other, and therefore these would be considered social gatherings.

As such, and following yesterday’s announcement from the First Minister which was tightening some restrictions rather than easing them, a maximum of six people from two households will be the new rule for social gatherings both inside and outside and this would apply to the meetings you are referring to. The latest announcement can be found here: https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-phase-3-scotlands-route-map-update-10th-september-2020/.

I know this will be a disappointment and am sorry that I cannot give you any more positive news. There will be a further review in three weeks’ time.

Kind regards

The Scottish Government

Community Safety Unit

As the advice clearly states only 2 households can meet Lodge meetings and other events remain suspended until further notice. The Grand Lodge Executive share the frustration of our members that we are still unable to meet however as responsible citizens we have a duty to abide by the rules to ensure the safety of our members and communities in this ongoing emergency. A further update will be provided in due course. Please pass on my best wishes and thanks to our lodges and members for their wonderful work in the many Scottish cities, towns and villages through this current crisis.
