The forthcoming Grand Master’s Dinner scheduled for this coming Friday, 20th March, in Glasgow has been postponed until Friday 14th August 2020. The Grand Lodge Executive has concluded, following careful consideration of the advice from health professionals and government agencies, that we cannot continue with an event that may pose a risk to our members and families, to our staff and suppliers. Our duty of care requires the health of our citizens must be our priority.
From today, the Prime Minister and senior Government ministers supported by health experts will be hosting daily press conferences regarding Coronavirus. The Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland will be following and accepting the advice that is offered. As such, hosting a major event with people travelling from all over Scotland is not appropriate. We recognise this will disappoint some people however we will reorganise later in the year.
The Grand Master sincerely thanks everyone who supported his venture and looks forward to welcoming you in August. Any lodge who wants to cancel lodge meetings or events in the coming weeks has approval to do so and should inform the higher court of their decision to do so. We urge all members to keep safe in the coming weeks and encourage everyone to look after elderly and vulnerable members of our community who are affected during this crisis. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone as we face this crisis together.
